Italian open: Sharapova withdraws from tournament due to injury
Sharapova has been sidelined since pulling out of the St. Petersburg Open in Russia in January after winning the first-round match.
Rome: Three-time champion Maria Sharapova has withdrawn her name from the upcoming Italian open. The reason behind former World Number one's decision to opt out was due to the right shoulder injury that she has been facing through 2018.
The 45th-ranked Viktoria Kuzmova will replace Sharapova, Rome organisers announced on Wednesday.
