# In a big blow to India, all-rounder Vijay Shankar has been ruled out of the 2019 World Cup due to a toe injury. He was replaced by uncapped opener Mayank Agarwal. The Karnataka opener made his Test debut in December 2018 against Australia. Vijay is the second Indian cricketer to return home after Shikhar Dhawan.

# Lionel Messi's hope of winning a Copa America title was dashed by Brazil in the semifinal as South America football giants defeated the La Albiceleste 2-0.

Vijay Shankar was preferred ahead of him in the 15-man Indian squad for the 2019 World Cup. Later, Rishabh Pant got the nod in place of Shikhar injured Dhawan and then India called in uncapped opener Mayank Agarwal as injured Shankar's replacement.
