⦁ In a tragic incident, 17-year-old Kerala boy Abheel Johonson’s died 17 days after he was unintentionally hit on the head by a flying hammer thrown by an athlete at the state junior athletic meet in Kottayam.
⦁ Paris 2024 organisers recently launched a new Olympic and Paralympic Games emblem to embody their widening vision of the Games. The emblem contains within it, three key elements - a gold medal, to represent sport, an Olympic and Paralympic flame and the lips that create the face of a woman, in this case a representation of Marianne, a historic personification of France.
⦁ Premier League club Chelsea have banned three fans for racially abusing a fellow supporter at a Europa League game in April. Chelsea fan Jerome Bailey said he was the target of horrific slurs about his skin and hair during the Europa League quarter-final last season.
⦁ Paralympic champion Marieke Vervoort, who was a recipient of a gold medal in wheelchair racing, died through legal euthanasia in her native Belgium on Tuesday. The 40-year-old Olympic athelete suffered a degenerative muscle disease that caused constant pain, paralysis in her legs and left her barely able to sleep, and gradually her life became torture.
⦁ The crisis in UAE cricket deepened after it was revealed Ghulam Shabber has left the country with no explanation, in the middle of the T20 World Cup Qualifier.
⦁ Ugly scenes were witnessed at the iconic Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi's Tughlakabad area when two shooters were involved in a scuffle. Two shooters Babar Khan and Yoginderpal Singh had an argument over the numbers rounds one can shoot and they started fighting with each other in broad daylight close to the firing area where other shooters were still training.
