Hangzhou:The Indian women's badminton player and two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu lost to China’s Bingjiao in the women's singles badminton quarterfinals event in the ongoing Asian Games here on Thursday.
Sindhu, currently ranked 15th, looked a pale shadow of herself against world No.5 Bingjiao and lost the game by 2-0 with a scoreline of 16-21, 12-21 in just 47 minutes to bow out of the competition.
Sindhu could not get over the challenge of Bingjiao, the same opponent whom she defeated in straight games to win the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. However, in a major upset, the Chinese shuttler avenged her defeat on home soil and denied Sindhu from adding a medal to India's tally.
Sindhu won bronze and silver medals respectively in 2014 Incheon and 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. In the present Hangzhou Asian Games, Sindhu never looked in a commanding position against the Chinese oponent. The first game started on a even knell between the two players as both shared points till six-all. Later, Bingjiao took the lead and Sindhu never returned to the game after it.
