Ulan-Ude (Russia): Indian pugilist Manju Rani stormed into the finals of the World Boxing Championships in the 48Kg category after overpowering her Thai opponent Chuthamat Raksat in Russia's Ulan-Ude on Saturday.
Manju defeated her Thai counterpart 4-1 to guarantee India of at least a silver medal in the World Championships.
Earlier in the day, star Indian boxer Mary Kom lost her semi-final bout against Turkey's Busenaz Cakiroglu to settle for silver.
The other two Indian boxers Jamuna Boro and Lovlina Borgohain will now fight for a berth in the finals later. While Jamina Boro is up against top-seeded Huang Hsiao Wen of Chinese Taipei, Lovlina Borgohain, who is given the third seed in the 69kg category, will take on China's Yang Liu.
