Hyderabad:India's Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar has won bronze medal in individual men's 10m air rifle event at Asian Games. Aishwary shot 22.8.8 and emerged victorious in a shoot-off for the third spot with compatriot Rudrankksh Patil.
After winning the medal, he said that he never thought that he would win two medals in a single day. "This is not just a gold medal but it is also our world record so it is very special."
We're very happy that we won the gold medal in the team event and created a new world record in the Asian Games, Aishwary said adding, "It is a proud moment for an athlete when the national anthem is played and there is no substitute for it."
Aishwary who stood at fifth with 631.6 in the qualifiers. He had a series of 104.1, 105.5, 105.3, 105.7, 105.7 and 105.3 in qualification.
Aishwary's individual bronze -- India's fourth in shooting so far -- came in the event after a third-place shoot-off with compatriot Rudrankksh, who finished fourth.
In the intense battle, 10m Air Rifle finals at the Games, Aishwary showcased remarkable skill and determination, securing a well-deserved bronze, the Sports Authority of India said in a short congratulatory message posted in its social media handle.
