Talking about enforced COVID-19 lock-down in Britain, Hamilton said, “It's been a good period of time for my body and mind and soul and spirit, so. But I know that so many people out there that are struggling and it's been a really ... I've not been on social media that much so I'm just really trying to pull away from it for a moment and give it a bit of breathing space. And as I said, just re-centre re-align, make sure that when I get the call that we're going be racing, I'm ready to go.”

The start of the 2020 Grand Prix season has been delayed until July by the coronavirus, with 10 races out of what should have been a record 22-event championship either cancelled or postponed.

Hamilton, however, is trying to make the most of the downtime ahead of his bid for a record-equalling seventh world title

Hamilton further said, “I don't think about all the other drivers. I hope they're all well. I've been in touch with a couple of them. You know, we're all in the same boat generally. But I don't think of them in terms of inspiration, in terms of like motivation or anything like that. I've never struggled for motivation in the sense of being competitive.”

“I get in the car with this helmet on and I'm able to be whoever I want to be. I can be superman under that helmet, if I want to be. And generally, when I was at school, I was bullied when I was at school. I was the little kid and you know, bullied by the big kids. So I was very, very, much within my cocoon or whatever, you know, in my own space very quiet. But when I get in the car, I would put up my elbows and stand up for myself. And then eventually I got confidence to stand up to others in school because I went to Karate and got a black belt. I could woop someone's butt, which is amazing. So yeah, but I've never doubted myself in the car and I don't doubt myself in the car. There was one momen a long, long, time ago when I was in Formula One Renault. But I got up and went for like 14 mile run the next day and it passed,” Hamilton added.
