AIBA Women's World Championship: Pugilist Manju Rani enters semis, assures herself maiden medal

The sixth-seeded Indian pugilist defeated her top-seeded North Korean counterpart 4-1 to assure herself a maiden medal at the Worlds in the light flyweight category.

Ulan-Ude (Russia): In her maiden appearance at the Women World Boxing Championships, Manju Rani guaranteed India a second medal at the event after she defeated North Korea's kim Hyang-mi in the 48kg category.

The sixth-seeded Indian pugilist defeated her top-seeded North Korean counterpart 4-1 to assure herself a maiden medal at the Worlds in the light flyweight category.

Manju is now set to face Thailand's Chuthamat Raksat in the semifinals, on October 12.

Earlier, Manju had received a bye in the first round and had then defeated Cedeno rojas in her pre-quarterfinal bout on Wednesday.
