Rourkela gears up to host 2023 Hockey World Cup

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) president Narinder Dhruv Batra along with a technical team and other senior officials on Thursday visited Rourkela to assess the infrastructure and logistic needs of the venue.

Rourkela: The preparations for the 2023 Hockey World Cup has started in full swing at Rourkela, one of the venues to host the showpiece event.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) president Narinder Dhruv Batra along with a technical team and other senior officials on Thursday visited Rourkela to assess the infrastructure and logistic needs of the venue.

Elena Norman, Hockey India (HI) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sports and Youth Services Secretary Vishal Dev and IDCO Managing Director Sanjay Singh were also present on the occasion.

India was awarded the hosting of the next Men's Hockey World Cup after successfully organising the 2018 edition of the mega event in Bhubaneswar. The tournament will be held from January 13 to 29 in 2023 in two venues - Bhuvneshwar and Rourkela.

Bhubaneswar's Kalinga Stadium will host the game's showpiece tournament for the second consecutive time after successfully conducting the event in 2018, which was won by Belgium.
