Hyderabad: Amidst no contact with their families and relatives back home after a lockdown in Jammu and Kashmir, the Real Kashmir footballers trained hard amid a thick security cover on the eve of their Durand Cup opener against Chennai City.
The government on Monday revoked provisions of Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Although the players are training hard and enjoying their practice, yet the boys from Kashmir are living through some anxious moments which is beyond their control.
Worried Real Kashmir players focus on Durand Cup opener amidst Kashmir turmoil The team has been provided with troops of state police and Army personnel even while training which makes it crystal clear that all is not well back home.
The absence of any form of communication in J&K makes these players really worried as to what is going on in home. Danish Farooq, a local resident of the valley who is also Real Kashmir's forward said to a leading news agency, "I'm worried about my family because there has been no communication with them in the past couple of days. The last time I talked to them when I left home to join the team in Srinagar."
Other Kashmir born players such as Danish Farooq Bhat, Khalid Qayoom, Ifham Tariq Mir and Ujawar Nabi Bhat have all tried to establish contacts with their respective families but the same haven't yielded any results.
Earlier when the players had left their home for the Durand Cup, the cloudes of political turmoil had already begun.
By the time they had reached the team hotel at Kalyani, they were made aware of the fact that the state had been bifurcated and its 'special status' had been withdrawn.
