Paris: France is all set to play their first home match in 2020 UEFA European Championship qualifying against Iceland on Monday.
- Both nations got off to perfect starts in Group H. The world champions defeated Moldova 4-1 and Iceland beat Andorra 2-0.
France manager Didier Deschamps is likely to leave out Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman in Paris.
France practice ahead of their Euro 2020 qualifier against Iceland The coach said he does not want risk the forward after the 22-year-old withdrew from the starting eleven during the warm-up in Moldova on Friday.
Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Raphael Varane and Olivier Giroud were all on the score sheet as the world champions made a convincing start to their qualifying campaign in Moldova.
Meanwhile, France goalkeeper and captain Hugo Loris said that the team will take the game against Iceland very seriously and the World Champions will aim to finish at top of the group in order to qualify for the tournament as soon as possible.
"The context is different (compared to a friendly game against Iceland in October which ended 2-2), this game is a competitive one. We're taking this game very seriously, just like we did against Moldova with the objective to win," Loris said.
"We have our goal, it's clear, to finish in first place in this group and to qualify as soon as we can. We can't control everything but we want to give ourselves the best chances to do so," he added.
Interestingly, France will be wearing a vintage-style commemorative jersey against Iceland to mark the centenary of the French Football Federation.
