Turin: Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo has been charged by UEFA for his outrageous celebration in Juventus' last-16 Champions League game against Atletico Madrid.
Ronaldo charged by UEFA over celebration
The 34-year-old netted a hat-trick in their second leg match against Atletico Madrid to power them into the quarter-finals on 3-2 aggregation.
After Juventus' win, Ronaldo was seen mocking Diego Diego Simeone's 'crotch-grabbing' celebration from the first leg, for which the latter was fined £17,000.
Simeone apologised two days later. Now, for the same mistake, Ronaldo has been charged. However, UEFA is yet to decide the scale of punishment for Ronaldo. UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body will deal with this case at its next meeting on March 21.
Juventus will play their first leg game of Champions League quarter-finals in Amsterdam on April 10.
A match ban on Ronaldo would definitely be a big blow to Juventus.
