Tottenham: Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday sacked their manager Mauricio Pochettino just six months after the Argentine led the club to the Champions League final, where they lost to Liverpool.
"The Club can today announce that Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff Jesus Perez, Miguel D'Agostino and Antoni Jimenez have been relieved of their duties," said Tottenham in a statement.
Currently, the spurs are placed at the 14th spot in the Premier league table.
Pochettino was brought by the English club in May 2014 and last season under his guidance Spurs enjoyed a remarkable run.
Premier League: Mauricio Pochettino sacked by Tottenham Hotspur
Currently, the spurs are placed at the 14th spot in the Premier league table.
Talking about his sacking, former English international Gary Lineker tweeted: "He helped the club to punch massively above their weight for years. Good luck with finding a better replacement ... ain't gonna happen."
During his tenure with Tottenham, the Spurs regularly qualified for the Champions League. However, in the ongoing season, it seems Tottenham lost their mojo as they managed to take just 14 points from 12 league games.
"Regrettably domestic results at the end of last season and beginning of this season have been extremely disappointing," Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said.
"It falls to the Board to make the difficult decisions -- this one made more so given the many memorable moments we have had with Mauricio and his coaching staff -- but we do so in the Club's best interests.
"Mauricio and his coaching staff will always be part of our history. I have the utmost admiration for the manner in which he dealt with the difficult times away from a home ground whilst we built the new stadium and for the warmth and positivity he brought to us.
"I should like to thank him and his coaching staff for all they have contributed. They will always be welcome here."
