Manchester: Manchester United dealt a potentially fatal blow to the title aspirations of arch rivals Manchester City with a 2-1 win on Saturday at Etihad Stadium.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial put United 2-0 in the first half and although Nicolas Otamendi pulled a goal back for the champions and set up a nerve-wracking finish, the visitors held firm.

The result takes United up to fifth in the table and leaves City third, 14 points behind runaway leaders Liverpool, who beat Bournemouth 3-0 earlier in the day.

However, the game was marred by a series of incidents in the crowd - one supporter appeared to make a 'monkey gesture' towards a United player and there were several reports of missiles being thrown.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in post-match conference

Talking about the incident, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said the perpetrator should 'never be allowed' into a football ground again.

"Yeah. Fred and Jesse (Lingard) were in the corner, taking a corner and I've seen the video, heard from the boys. We keep talking about it every bloody week. Sorry, it's... but he's been caught on camera (the perpetrator). He should, in my opinion, never be allowed into a football ground again," Solskjaer said.
