Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday suffered a huge blow. After their 10-run defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Hyderabad franchise's all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the IPL 2020 as the Australian suffered an ankle injury. SRH took to the twitter to announce the news.
Mitchell Marsh is struggling to stand while batting. West Indies Test skipper Jason Holder has been named as Marsh's replacement. Holder is expected to join the SRH squad soon in the UAE.
“Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out due to injury. We wish him a speedy recovery. Jason Holder will replace him for #Dream11IPL 2020,” tweeted SRH.
In SRH's opening match against RCB, captain David Warner handed the ball to Marsh to bowl the fifth over but he could bowl only four balls.
Marsh, whose career has been marred by a series of injuries, twisted his ankle in the second ball while trying to stop a drive by Aaron Finch in his follow-through but managed to bowl two more balls before being ruled out of bowling.
Jason Holder will join SRH squad in the UAE
He later came to bat at No. 10 in SRH's chase but it was quite clear that he was struggling to stand. SRH will play their next match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday in Abu Dhabi. It will be interesting to see who replaces Marsh in SRH's playing XI. Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammed Nabi seems to be the front-runner at the moment.
