Sharjah: In the 23rd match of Indian Premier League 2020, Delhi Capitals posted 184 for 8 in 20 overs here at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday. It was a stop-start display of batting by Delhi. After their top order failed to Jofra Archer's brilliant bowling aided by Rahul Tewatia and Kartik Tyagi's tight spells, lower-order did the bulk of the job to help the team set a 185 runs target for Rajasthan Royals.
Asked to bat first, Delhi lost wickets at regular intervals. In the second over of their innings, they lost out of form Shikhar Dhawan. However, a 30-run partnership between Prithvi Shaw and captain Shreyas Iyer took Delhi near to half-century. But, the fluent partnership came to halt in the fifth over when Jofra Archer struck for the second time in the game. Both the openers were dismissed by Archer.
In a span of one over, Iyer was also removed by a brilliant thrower from youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Rishabh Pant too didn't last long as he fell victim to a brilliant piece of fielding effort, effected by substitute fielder Manan Vohra and Rahul Tewatia.
