Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad openers Jonny Bairstow and David Warner notched a new record as the duo broke the record of highest opening partnership in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL).
Bairstow and Warner forged 185 runs first wicket partnership in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket stadium on Sunday.

The previous record of the highest opening partnership was held by former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir and Chris Lynn.

The KKR duo built unbeaten 184 runs partnership against Gujarat Lions in 2017 IPL while chasing 183 runs target at Rajkot which they won by 10 wickets.
Meanwhile, it was the only second time when two batsmen scored centuries in an innings in IPL history. In 2016 IPL, RCB batsmen AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli hit centuries during their record 229 runs second wicket partnership against Gujarat Lions.
England ODI team opener Bairstow slammed 56-ball 114 while David Warner took 55 balls to complete his ton.
Bairstow, who took just three innings to hit his maiden IPL ton, smashed 12 boundaries and 7 sixes to decorate his swashbuckling innings. His partner, Warner contributed 70 off 42 balls in what is now the highest partnership for any wicket for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The previous highest partnership for SRH was held by the opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson who forged 176 runs partnership for the second wicket against Delhi Daredevils at the Ferozeshah Kotla in 2018.
The partnership was brought to end when Bairstow edged Yuzvendra Chahal in the 17th over and was caught by Umesh Yadav.
