IND vs SA 1st T20: Match called off due to rain

The first T20 international between India and South Africa at Durban was abandoned due to rain and inclement weather. The Men in Blue will now head to Gqeberha for the second game against the hosts.

India will be aiming to start the bilateral T20I series against South Africa on a winning note on Sunday when they lock horns against the Proteas. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the Indian side while the South African team will be captained by Aiden Markram.

Durban (South Africa):The first T20I between India and South Africa was called off due to inclement weather without toss. The capacity Durban crowd which had come to witness high octane clash at the Kingsmead Cricket Ground had to return empty-handed. The India team now moves to Gqeberha, previously known as Port Elizabeth, where the second T20 will be played on Tuesday December 12. The current series is a three-match affair.

    The match officials abandoned the game as it was raining at the venue.
  • Toss
    The toss is delayed due to rain. It is raining in Durban and the ground is covered for now. It is still raining and the covers are in place at the moment. Notably, we'll start losing overs from 08:20 pm.
  • Pitch report
    The pitch is on the slowish side but it will play fairly in both the innings. The 15 millimeters of rain is expected. This is also a farewell match for Wilson Ngobese, who joined Kingsmead's groundstaff in 1975 and has been the head curator since 1999. This will be Ngobese's last international pitch.
