Rajkot: Australia dished out a clinical show both with the bat and the ball as they trounced India by 66 runs in the third and final ODI which was played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium here.
After choosing to bat, Australian batters led by Steve Smith (74) justified skipper Pat Cummins's decision and posted a challenging 352/7 on the board and then bundled out the Men in Blue for 286. Part-time spinner Glenn Maxwell then ran through the Indian line up and was ably supported by other Australian bowlers. India failed to capitalise on a strong start and lost the plot in the middle overs.
However, India won series 2-1 after winning the first two ODIs played in Mohali and Indore respectively. Both the teams straight away head to the Cricket World Cup and India will start their campaign against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Debutant Tanveer Sangha trapped Ravindra Jadeja (35 off 36 balls) in front of the wicket as India lost its ninth wicket. Jadeja became Sangha's first international wicket, which he would cherish for a long time. Left-handed batter Jadeja, who was playing in front of his home crowd, unsuccessfully reviewed the decision.

Jasprit Bumrah was the eight batter to be dismissed as he was caught by Marnus Labuschagne off skipper Pat Cummins, who got his maiden wicket.

Pacer Josh Hazlewood removed Kuldeep Yadav (2) in the 42nd over as India lost its seventh wicket. Hazlewood picked his second wicket of the evening as Australian bowlers dished out a clinical performance.

The evening belonged to Glenn Maxwell, who took his fourth wicket. This time it was Shreyas Iyer (48 off 43 balls), who was cleaned up by the part-time spinner in the 39th over. Iyer his a lone four and two sixes before making the long walk to the pavilion. It was just a matter of time for Australia to register a consolation win as the Men in Blue still needed over 100 runs.

KL Rahul (26 of 30 balls) failed to convert his start as he gave a skier to Alex Carey off Mitchell Starc, who clinched his first wicket. India were in spot of bother at 223/4. Shreyas Iyer was looking solid in the middle and was joined by fellow Mumbaikar Suryakumar Yadav. The required run rate has climbed over nine run per over.

Glenn Maxwell struck for the third time. This time he removed a set Virat Kohli (56 off 61 balls), soon after completing his fifty. The former India captain was caught in the deep by Steve Smith. Virat hammered five boundaries and a lone six. Maxwell was bowling to perfection as he has got scalped all the three Indian wickets.

Skipper Rohit Sharma missed a deserving hundred as Glenn Maxwell lobbed off a return catch. Rohit, who was looking in fine touch, was dismissed on 81 on the final ball of the 21st over. The Mumbaikar hammered five boundaries and as many as six maximums in his 57-ball fiery knock. Rohit Sharma now has second highest runs against Australia (2,332) in the fifty over format and is only behind cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar (3,077 runs)

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli conjured an unbroken 50-run stand. Virat walked down the track and smashed Mitchell Starc for a straight six as the hosts inched closer to the mammoth target. After 20 overs, they were poised at 135/1.
