New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad's Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has decided to skip his national team's World Cup camp ahead of the upcoming fifty overs mega-tournament, which will be held in England and Wales starting May 30.
Shakib has decided to stay back in India to play in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. "Shakib was expected to arrive on April 23 but now that is not happening," Bangladesh cricket operation chairman Akram Khan said on Monday.
"He has informed us that as someone had left from the Sunrisers there is a chance that he might play and so he wanted to stay back," Akram said, before adding, "We have given him permission as we believe if he can play it will always be good for him leading up to the tri-nation in Ireland."
As per reports, Shakib has confirmed his participation in preparatory WC camp, however, he went back on his original decision as he might get a chance to don Orange Jersey in upcoming matches with SRH openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow leaving India for their respective countries by the end of this week.
