Bangladesh's win meant Shai Hope's 109, his second in as many matches, went in vain. Hope's innings laid a solid foundation for Windies' innings but they let the stronghold in the match slip away once Mortaza dismissed the former on team score 207. Yet, Windies managed to set 262 runs target for Bangladesh in 50 overs. Mortaza finished the match with three scalps for 49 runs.
In response, Tamim (80) and Soumya (73) built 144 runs partnership and set the stage for Bangladesh's eight-wicket win. Tamim, who played 116 deliveries, decorated his innings seven boundaries while Soumya hit nine boundaries and a six during his quickfire innings that came at a strike-rate of 107.
After their dismissals Shakib-Al-Hasan took up the responsibility to finish off the proceeding with an unbeaten 61 off as many balls as Bangladesh, who beat the West Indies in two one-day international series in 2018, winning the match with five overs to spare.
