Inzamam also admitted that the poor form of Junaid Khan, who proved to be expensive in the two games he played against England, played a part in the return of the experienced duo of Amir and Riaz.

Lahore: After being overlooked for the World Cup, speedster Wahab Riaz made a cut in Pakistan's 15 man squad for ICC's biggest ever cricketing event in England and Wales. PCB selectors also called back Mohammad Amir who was earlier not picked. Asif Ali, who recently lost his daughter to cancer, has also been selected for the mega cricketing event.

These changes have been made after Pakistan bowlers failed to impress during Pakistan's 4-0 defeat to England in the just-concluded ODI series.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Shadab Khan, who received a green signal to feature in the squad following his recovery.Riaz, who last played an ODI during Pakistan's 2017 Champions Trophy win, has returned to the side along with Amir, a key member of Pakistan win against India. "As far as Amir is concerned, we never discarded him," chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq pointed out. "We now want to take a bowler who brings a bit of experience and the previous knowledge of having bowled in English conditions."
Asif Ali will add strength to middle-order.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Hafeez made a cut in the squad ruling out the confusion regarding his participation in the tournament as he was recovering from injury. Inzamam also admitted that the poor form of Junaid Khan, who proved to be expensive in the two games he played against England, played a part in the return of the experienced duo of Amir and Riaz. "The bowling unit during the England ODI has not clicked as anticipated or expected," Inzamam said. "If we have at our disposal two vastly experienced pace duo of Amir and Wahab, then it will be foolish not to include them."

Asif Ali has been given a chance as he can provide much-needed firepower in the middle order.

The inclusion of those three meant that Abid Ali, Junaid Khan, and Faheem Ashraf, who were named in the initial squad, miss out on taking part in this year's World Cup that begins on May 30.

Squad: Sarfraz Ahmed (c), Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Asif Ali, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, Haris Sohail, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Hasnain
