WATCH: Shakib Al Hasan responds to ban after admitting corruption

Dhaka: Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan read a statement to media in Dhaka on Tuesday after receiving a two-year ban from all cricket for failing to report approaches from bookmakers for inside information.

Shakib accepted three charges of breaching the ICC's anti-corruption code for not reporting approaches made during the January 2018 Tri-Series between Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, and in the Indian Premier League.

One year of the 32-year-old's ban was suspended, which means he can return to action on 29th October 2020.

Shakib, one of the world's leading players, currently tops the ICC's rankings for all-rounders in One-Day Internationals (ODI), while sitting third in the Test rankings.
