Karachi: Pakistan's left-arm pace bowler Usman Shinwari bagged his second ODI five-wicket haul as Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 67 runs to go 1-0 up in the three-match ODI series.
Chasing a target of 306, Sri Lanka were off to a poor start as the visitors were down to 28/5 inside 11 overs after a daunting bowling effort by Shinwari who was well supported by Mohammad Amir.
However, a solid 177-run partnership between Shehan Jayasuriya (96) and Dasun Shanaka (68) gave the visitors a mere hope of a victory before the duo were dismissed in consecutive overs to guarantee Pakistan's win in their ODI return at home,
Earlier, Babar Azam had notched up his 11th ODI ton to help Pakistan post a massive total of 305/7 in 50 overs.
With this win in the second ODI, Pakistan lead the three-match ODI series 1-0, with the third and final encounter scheduled to be played in the same venue on October 2.
