Samson consolidates his position for BAN T20I series; Pant's selection uncertain

Sanju Samson's unbeaten double ton broke the record for the highest individual score ever registered in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on October 12, scoring an unbeaten 212 off 129 balls against Goa in a Group ‘A’ contest against Goa at the Alur grounds in Bengaluru.

Hyderabad: As soon as India's home Test series against South Africa gets over, the Men in Blue's next home assignment will be hosting Bangladesh for three-match T20I and two-match Test series starting on November 3 in New Delhi.

The Indian squad for the Bangladesh T20I series will be announced on October 24. With captain Virat Kohli is expected to be released from the team after the South Africa series, keeping the workload he is going to bear in mind in coming months, a few changes are expected.

Sanju Samson strengthened his case piling on 410 runs in eight matches at an average of 58.57 in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

If the reports are believed Sanju Samson is likely to replace Rishabh Pant in the T20I squad for wicket-keeper batsman's slot, thanks to his impressive performance for Kerala in Vijay Hazare Trophy.

It should be noted that Pant failed to impress selectors and team management throwing away his wicket at a crucial juncture in one after another match. When Pant wasted one after another opportunity, Sanju Samson strengthened his case piling on 410 runs in eight matches at an average of 58.57 in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Rishabh Pant's inconsistency could see selection committee turning their back towards him for Bangladesh T20I series.

Meanwhile, the right-handed batsman's unbeaten double ton broke the record for the highest individual score ever registered in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on October 12, scoring an unbeaten 212 off 129 balls against Goa in a Group ‘A’ contest against Goa at the Alur grounds in Bengaluru.

Will Shivam Dube be in the mix for selection?

There is a rumour that Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube could also fetch an Indian cap in the T20I squad for Bangladesh series. With Hardik Pandya is recovering from back surgery in England, Team India will require service of an all-rounder. Hence, Dube is India's best bet for the position, thanks to his impressive performance in domestic cricket.

Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube will be in the mix for selection.

Like Samson, Dube too consolidated his position for a possible selection scoring 177 runs at an astounding average of 88.50. His strike-rate is close to 150.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has already announced their T20I squad for India series.

Here is their squad: Shakib Al Hasan (Captain), Tamim Iqbal, Linton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Naeem Sheikh, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyadh, Asif Hussain, Musaddak Hussain, Aminul Islam, Arafat Sunny, Mohammad Saifuddin, Al Amin Hussain, Mustafizur Rahman, Shafiul Islam
