Bangar reportedly told Gandhi that if the selectors didn't see him as a perfect match for batting coach job, they should at least include him somewhere in the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Mumbai: Batting coach Sanjay Bangar's tenure with Team India is set to expire. Though there is no official confirmation from the Indian cricket board (BCCI) regarding the longevity of Bangar's tenure it is understood that charges of 'lack of trust' are of being dubbed as the reason for his exit after a five-year stint.

On Wednesday, as India's Caribbean tour came to end with a comfortable series victory for Virat Kohli & Co it was learnt that Bangar, who was travelling with the team for his final assignment, had allegedly stormed into the room of the national selector- Devang Gandhi- around two weeks ago and had a heated argument over his imminent omission as batting coach of the national team.

Sanjay Bangar held the position of batting coach for five years.
“(When the selection committee was conducting interviews) … He went and knocked on Devang’s door late in the evening and gave him and the selection committee an earful. He warned the selectors that the team would rally around him and the decision (to replace him) would fall flat. It wasn’t required. It wasn’t the team’s job to decide on support staff. It was the selectors’ call,” sources close to the development said. Bangar reportedly told Gandhi that if the selectors didn't see him as a perfect match for batting coach job, they should at least include him somewhere in the National Cricket Academy (NCA). “But that is not a decision for the selection committee to make. Right now, the board is clearly not happy with his behaviour. Too many instances have been brought to the notice of COA chief Vinod Rai,” said a source.Bangar joined Team India as assistant coach back in 2014. He held the position for five years before national selectors decided to bring in a fresh face for the position.
