Sharjah: After Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab match a name started trending on social media. For the first half of the Rajasthan innings Rahul Tewatia was trending for all the bad reasons but soon he turned the table upside down and become Hero from Zero. Tewaita, who at one point was looking like a villain playing dot-balls again and again, become a hero by smashing five sixes in an over against West Indian pacer Sheldon Cottrel.
Rahul received applause from cricket fraternity around the world and his knock was also quickly termed as the innings of the tournament by many cricket pundits.
When asked about Rahul's incredible knock his mother said, "It’s a great happiness for me seeing my child play well. Rahul has worked very hard since childhood. When Rahul was finding it difficult to middle the ball at first we all at home were under great pressure. But when he changed the entire stance of the match, everyone was happy and rejoiced."
Rahul was born in 1993 in Faridabad, a city adjacent to Delhi. Rahul's father Krishnapal is a lawyer. Since childhood, Rahul has been very fond of cricket. At the tender age of 4, cricket became Rahul's favourite sport, call it a passion.
Tewatia made his debut for Haryana during the 2013–14 Ranji Trophy in 2013 against Karnataka. He made his List A debut for Haryana in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy in February 2017.
During the 2019 IPL, he also set the joint record for taking the most number of catches by a non-wicket keeper in an IPL inning. In November 2019 before the 2020 Indian Premier League, he was traded to Rajasthan Royals.
