Pakistan cricketers Haider Ali, Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf test positive for COVID-19

Imad Wasim and Usman Shinwari have tested negative while the board is waiting for the results of Shoaib Malik and Waqar Younis.

Hyderabad: Three Pakistan cricketers – Haider Ali, Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf have tested positive for COVID-19, the Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed on Monday.

As per reports, the players had shown no symptoms until they were tested in Rawalpindi on Sunday before their departure for the tour of England. Meanwhile, Imad Wasim and Usman Shinwari have tested negative.

"The PCB medical panel is in contact with the three who have been advised to immediately go into self-isolation," the PCB said in the release.

"Imad Wasim and Usman Shinwari, also screened in Rawalpindi, have tested negative and, as such, will travel to Lahore on June 24," the statement further read.

Haider Ali

Haider was the star performer of Pakistan in the Under-19 World Cup and had received his maiden call-up to the national side as PCB named a 29-member squad for three Tests and three T20Is. He has so far featured in seven first-class games and has 645 runs at an average close to 50.

Meanwhile, pacer Haris Rauf who had a tremendous stint at the last edition of the Big Bash League has represented Pakistan in two T20Is in which he has impressed all with his raw pace.

Shadab Khan

Shadab Khan, on the other hand, is one of Pakistan team’s regular member. He has so far played in 88 matches across formats. Since his debut against the West Indies in a T20I in March 2017, Shadab has played 40 T20Is picking 48 wickets in the process. In ODIs, the leg-break bowler has played 43 matches and picked 59 wickets. He has also played 5 tests for Pakistan picking 12 wickets.
