Hyderabad: South Africa defeated Pakistan by 17 runs in the second ODI to level the three-match series 1-1 on Sunday. It was a much closer affair than it should have been because of Fakhar Zaman's brilliant 193 in a losing effort. Fakhar took 155 balls to reach that stage and he decorated his innings with 18 fours and 10 sixes to give South Africa a big scare.
South Africa won the close clash, but Fakhar Zaman won the hearts of the cricketing world.

Pakistan was 205-7 at one stage before Fakhar really got going but ultimately finished on 324-9 chasing 342 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
During his 193 runs innings, the 30-year-old has set quite a few astonishing records. Though he missed out on his second double ton, he notched the unique record of scoring the highest score in ODI cricket history while chasing a colossal target.
The record of the highest score while chasing a target was earlier held by former Australia batsman Shane Watson who scored 185 against Bangladesh in 2011.

Fakhar, meanwhile, became the highest scorer at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg while chasing a target in an ODI. Earlier, the record was held by Herschelle Gibbs of South Africa who played 177 runs innings in a successful chase against Australia in 2006.
Fakhar has also become the first player from Pakistan to have played 150+ innings in ODI cricket twice. In 2018, he scored an unbeaten 210 against Zimbabwe, becoming the first Pakistani batsman to hit ODI double ton.
