"But what he (Anderson) has done, he has got you to commit to play for an outswinger and the ball after covering almost 3/4th of the length of the pitch starts leaving you. And that is something which was new to me. Nobody had done that," Tendulkar said.

New Delhi: Veteran Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Thursday heaped praises on ace England pacer James Anderson, saying that the English cricketer is "one of the best exponents of the reverse swing."

"What I experienced over a period of time that he would hold the bowl as if he is bowling an outswinger but the release point, he would try and bring the ball back in. The number of batters would look at the wrist position and what he has actually done, he has shown you that he is bowling an inswinger but the imbalance between both sides of the ball will take the ball away from you," Tendulkar said in a video he posted on his Twitter handle.

"But what he has done, he has got you to commit to play for an outswinger and the ball after covering almost 3/4th of the length of the pitch starts leaving you. And that is something which was new to me. Nobody had done that, now I have spotted even Stuart Broad doing that. But Anderson started this long time ago. So, I rate him very, very high and he is one of the best exponents of the reverse swing," he added.

Earlier, Tendulkar had said that Ben Stokes will lead England from the front and would do whatever it takes to take his side to victory in the first Test against the West Indies.

"First of all I would like to wish all the best to Joe Root because that's a big moment in this family. I wish him all the best," Tendulkar had said during a conversation with West Indies legend Brian Lara.

Ben Stokes

"For Ben Stokes from what he has been through in the recent past to where he is today, it is a total transformation and it can happen only to someone who is mentally strong.

"When I first looked at him a few years ago, I could see his body language, it was so positive and vibrant and that energy is infectious. I felt that he was one of those players where in time to come you look back and say Ben stokes, Andrew Flintoff, Ian Botham -- these are the leading all-rounders who played for England," he added.
