I've been tortured by PCB, says Mohammad Amir

Mohammad Amir takes indefinite break from international cricket.

Karachi: Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir on Thursday dropped a bombshell as he announced his decision to take an indefinite break from international cricket, saying that he can not work under current Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management.

The left-arm seamer, who played for the Galle Gladiators in the Lanka Premier League, is expected to issue a formal statement in few days after returning to his homeland Pakistan.

“Right now I am leaving cricket. I am being mentally tortured. I don’t think, I will be able to handle this kind of torture because I have been tortured a lot from 2010 to 2015,” Amir was quoted as saying by a leading media house of Pakistan.

Amir, who made a comeback to international cricket after serving five years ban for his role in the spot-fixing scandal during the 2010 Test at Lord’s against England, was omitted from Pakistan squad for three-match T20I series against New Zealand. And PCB's decision to exclude Amir from the squad has left a sour taste in the pacer's mouth.

Amir made his international debut for Pakistan against England in June 2009 and bagged 259 wickets so far. He was also part of Pakistan squad that won the 2009 World T20I and Champions Trophy in 2017.
