Chennai: The pre-departure camp of Chennai Super Kings has come under scanner after 12 members of their staff have tested positive for coronavirus. The list included players and as well as coaching/support staff.
According to the rule, the player, who has tested positive, can return to training only after a 14-day quarantine period. After completing his quarantine period, the player will get tested again before being permitted to re-enter the bio-secure zone.
However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is insisting that there is no immediate threat to the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. IPL 2020 is scheduled to start from September 19.
“Adequate measures are in place to tackle the situation and there is no immediate threat to the tournament. But the announcement of fixtures has been delayed because of this development,” a top BCCI source was quoted as saying by a leading English newspaper.
