Ranchi: Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has left Ranchi to join teams training camp in Chennai. CSK are having their six-day conditioning camp ahead of leaving for UAE for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.
Dhoni was spotted arriving at the Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi, wearing a yellow t-shirt and his facemask. MS has not played a single cricket match since the 2019 World Cup final and IPL will play a key role in his comeback into India's international team.
Along with MSD, his teammates Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, and Piyush Chawla will also be attending the camp in Chennai.
Earlier, Dhoni was also tested negative for COVID-19. Dhoni had undergone the mandatory test before being eligible to join the camp along with teammate Monu Kumar Singh at a Ranchi hospital, sources told media.
In accordance with the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Standard Operating Procedure before arriving at the franchise's city of choice for a training camp, they will undergo another round of testing after arriving in Chennai.
IPL 2020 was originally scheduled to start on March 29 with CSK scheduled to face Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede in the season opener. However, the tournament had initially been postponed to April 15 and then indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing lockdown in the country.
