Hyderabad: One of the greatest allrounders in the history of cricket Jacques Kallis is celebrating his 44th birthday on 16th October. The legendary cricketer retired from international cricket in 2014. The right-hand batsman smashed a century in the last Test match that he played against India.
The all-rounder displayed his prowess in both batting and bowling. Kallis started as a bowling all-rounder and clocked speeds of 140 kmph consistently since making his debut in 1995. He ended his carrer with 577 international wickets.
Kallis was named Player of the Year and Test Player of the Year at the ICC Awards in October 2005. In the 2007 World Cup, he was South Africa's highest run-scorer, with 485 runs. Jacques Kallis is the fifth batsman with the most number of centuries in the game (62).
With over 19,000 runs in the First Class and List A games, Jacques Kallis went on to become one of South Africa's greatest cricketers. The splendid all-rounder had 338 catches to his name - 200 Test catches, 131 ODI catches and 7 T20 grabs.
