Earlier, Stokes in his book titled 'On Fire' had questioned Dhoni's intent during India's 31-run defeat at the hands of England in the premier tournament last year.

Talking about the controversy, Sreesanth openly challenged the English all-rounder to face him on the field. The Indian cricketer even went on to say that Stokes should apologies to MS Dhoni for his statement.

On Stokes' statement, Sreesanth said, "How can Stokes talk about such great cricketer like that? I am really angry with him for his statement on Dhoni. How can Stokes claim that Dhoni was not up to the mark?"

Sreesanth even said that Stokes should be happy that somehow his country was able to clinch one World Cup.

MS Dhoni

When asked about his relationship with Dhoni, the Kerala based cricketer said, "I don't even remember when we talked last time. I think it was way back in 2013 during a match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals," before adding, "For me Dhoni will always be bhai (Dhoni bhai), as a cricketer he has my utmost respect. He is like a brother to me."

Sreesanth also clarified that there is no conflict between him and Dhoni and all the rumours are fake.

Speaking about MS Dhoni's retirement, "I think we should leave MSD alone. He is 38 but Dhoni is as fit as he was when he started playing cricket. He is a legend, I think we should let him play as long as he wants."
