Manchester: England fast bowler Mark Wood said his team-mates enjoyed a front row seat to watch their captain Eoin Morgan hit a world ODI record of 17 sixes in his innings of 148 which inspired the team to a 150-run victory over Afghanistan at the World Cup at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Mark said, "I think it was an incredible feeling, obviously, the lads were...It's not the first time we have Morgy (Eoin Morgan) play like that so, too but to do that on a world stage and a big World Cup match is great and everyone was just delighted for him and everyone was watching. It's one of them where no-one is sitting in the back, everyone is getting in the front to watch the game and it was brilliant to see him do so well. Everyone was like over the moon for him and delighted for him."

Mark when asked about Morgan's fitness and he not being certain of playing in the match said, "Not really, I think he is pulling your leg there. He is a guy who can get on with it pretty quick. He has got shots all around the wicket and he has got some little Irish firepower in him that whacks the ball over the boundary. So I thought he played brilliantly. And to come off an injury doubt with a bad back and to play like that is absolutely amazing and delighted that he got so many runs."

Afghanistan batsman Hashmatullah Shahidi said, "I can say this might be the best innings of his life because he was smashing every ball. We only see the ball was going for six every ball, so that was one of the great knocks I saw in my life."

"If you can see we are struggling in the batting, last four-five games..but today was better than the other days. So the England bowling is very good, we played good against them but the target was too much," he added.
