Delhi: Riding on the back of Rishabh Pant's fifty Delhi Capitals win the match against Rajasthan Royals by five wickets and 23 balls in their Indian Premier League contest here at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. With this loss, RR has been evicted from the tournament.
Chasing down the below-par total of 116 Delhi's openers scored 28 runs in the first three overs. Leg spinner Ish Sodhi then clinched two quick wickets to push Delhi on backfoot. But Pant steaded the innings and took DC home with a last ball six.
For Royals, leg spinner Sodhi and Shreyas Gopal clinched three wickets and two wickets respectively to make this low total tough for Delhi but no other bowler could deliver.
Rishabh Pant smashed 50 in the match Earlier, All-rounder Riyan Parag slammed maiden fifty of his IPL career to help Rajasthan Royals reach a respectable total of 115. Riyan scored 50 runs in 49 balls studded with two maximums and four boundaries. The 17-year-old broke his teammate Saju Samson's record of the youngest batsman to score fifty in IPL. Samson was just 18 years old when he scored fifty in IPL in 2013.
Rajasthan had very poor start as their captain Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed in the second over of the match by Delhi pacer Ishant Sharma. RR's other opening batsman Liam Livingstone also got out in the next over of Ishant.
For Delhi, Ishant and Amit Sharma clinched three wickets each. Ishant was slightly expensive as he leaked runs at an economy of 9.50. Trent Boult and Keemo Paul also picked one wicket each.
