New Delhi: The Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad is all set to become the largest cricket stadium in the world when it will be inaugurated by the United States of America President Donald Trump on February 24. The renovated Sardar Patel Stadium will house 110,000 spectators, more than doubling its previous capacity of 54,000.
The bird's eye view of the stadium shared on social media by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday has already created a lot of buzz among fans and players alike. The Indian board also shared another stunning image of the stadium when the sun was out.
BCCI president Sourav Ganguly expressed his excitement after seeing the image of the stadium. “Lovely to see such a massive, pretty stadium .. Ahmedabad .. have great memories in this ground as a player, captain ..grew up at Eden with hundred thousand capacity .. (not any more).. can’t wait to see this on 24th,” he tweeted on Tuesday.
The renovated stadium will also be the world's biggest cricket facility after the completion of construction work.
