Rohit Sharma removes India cricketer tag from social media accounts

Rohit Sharma was Virat Kohli's deputy in ODI and T20I cricket. BCCI named Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul vice-captain to Kohli for limited-overs series against Australia Down Under in Rohit's absence.

Hyderabad: Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma has removed the India cricketer tag from his official social media accounts a day after his omission from Indian squads for Australia tour, which BCCI announced on Monday. "For enquiry contact ritikasajdeh@gmail.com (Ritika Sajdeh)," reads Rohit's Twitter account bio.

Rohit Sharma was the vice-captain of Indian ODI and T20I team. He is currently in the UAE for IPL 2020 and leading defending champions Mumbai Indians, who are currently on top of the points table.

BCCI senior selection panel, headed by Sunil Joshi, on Monday announced 28 members squads for ODI, T20I and Test series in Australia. BCCI said that Rohit was omitted from the Australia tour due to his recent injury which he sustained while playing for Mumbai Indians. He will continue to be monitored by the BCCI Medical Team.

BCCI has also put Ishant Sharma, who returned home after being ruled out from IPL due to injury, under the observation of the Medical Team.

While BCCI said Rohit Sharma is not fit, Mumbai Indians posted a video in which Rohit was seen practising at the nets.

But on a day when Rohit's name was ignored for the Down Under tour, he was seen practising at the nets.

He is now expected to play on November 3 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Rohit last played for India in a T20I match against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui in February last.

The right-hander is the only international cricketer to score three double hundreds in the ODI cricket history. His 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014 is the highest individual score in the format. Rohit also holds the record of the most number of hundreds - four- in T20I cricket.
