Colombo (Sri Lanka): India is playing arch-rivals Pakistan in the Super 4 match of the ongoing Asia Cup here.

The play was called off in the India versus Pakistan match due to rain and a wet outfield. The 50-over match will resume on Monday, the reserve day, at 3 PM. India was 147/2 in 24.1 overs when the play was halted due to rains.

Match officials conducted an inspection of the R Premdasa Stadium, where play was halted due to a wet outfield after rain during the India versus Pakistan Super 4 Asia Cup match. The next inspection will be conducted at 8.30 PM.

Match officials have a chat with Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, India captain Rohit Sharma and the head coach as the players of both teams wait for a decision. There is a reserve day kept only for this Super 4 clash. The next inspection is at 8 PM.

Rain halted play at the R Premdasa Stadium in Colombo. India was poised at 147/2 in 24.1 overs when it started raining and the groundsmen covered the entire ground. Virat Kohli was unbeaten at 8, while KL Rahul was batting on 17 when rain stopped play. The Asian Cricket Council has kept a reserve day for the marquee clash.

The run rate has slowed since the departure of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill even as Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are aiming to steady the ship.

Then it was pacer Shaheen Afridi, who gave India the second blow. A slower ball from Shaheen landed perfectly on a good length spot and Gill failed to spot and was early into the drive and lobbed to cover. It was one of the easiest catches for Agha Salman. KL Rahul, who replaced an injured Shreyas Iyer, joined his former skipper Virat Kohli, in the middle.

In the battle against Rohit Sharma, Shadab Khan had the last laugh as dismissed a set India skipper, who was caught by Faheem Ashraf in the deep. A well-set Rohit walked back to the pavilion on 56. In walked, former skipper and star batter Virat Kohli.

It was a disastrous outing for leggie Shadab Khan as Rohit continued to play in an aggressive manner. In the 15th over, the swashbuckling right-handed Mumbai completed his fifty his hitting a monstrous six over deep mid-wicket and then followed with another boundary.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill completed a 100-run opening stand on a track, where the ball came nicely on the bat on a sunny afternoon. India raced to 103/0 in 14 overs.

It was a Rohit Sharm and Shubman Gill show at the R Premdasa Stadium as they spared none of the Pakistan bowlers. Shubman Gill completed his individual fifty off Shadab Khan in the 13th over. Then Rohit Sharma hammered two sixes and a four of successive balls as Shadab Khan was taken to task. The Mumbaikar Rohit also hit his trademark pull shot.

After a couple of silent over, Rohit Sharma changed his gears and took the Pakistani pacers to task. The Pakistani pacers have not started on a great note. India was poised at 61/0 after 10 overs. Rohit and Shubman have hit 12 boundaries and a six in the first 10 overs.

Rohit Sharma is playing second fiddle to Shubman Gill, who continued his onslaught against the Pakistani pacers. It was Naseem Shah's turn in the eight over as Shubman, a right-handed batter hit two boundaries in the eighth over, India cantered to 47/0 after eight overs. Both Rohit and Shubman are looking set and have laid the foundation for a big score.

Shubman Gill has taken the Pakistan attack to cleansers, as he has hit a flurry of boundaries. It was once again Shaheen Afridi, who was at the receiving end as Shubman, who plays for Punjab in domestic cricket, slammed three boundaries in the fifth over.

Courtesy of Shubman's flamboyant knock, India has reached 37/0 after five overs.

Opener Shubman Gill hammered three boundaries in the third over off pacer Shaheen Afridi, including one wristy flick. The Indian openers have started on an aggressive note. India amassed 12 runs in the third over.

India skipper Rohit Sharma, who opened the batting along with Shubman Gill, hit the first six of the Indian innings on the last ball of the first over off pacer Shaheen Afridi over deep backward square-leg.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bowl first. "We will bowl first. I think there is a bit of moisture, we need to use that. Always, India versus Pakistan is high intensity, but we will take it match to match. As a team, we are playing well, we are focused on this one. No changes." he said.

India skipper Rohit Sharma said the Indian team has made two changes. "(Jasprit) Bumrah is back and one forced change, Shreyas Iyer just got a back spasm so KL Rahul comes in for him," the India skipper said.
