Paris:Former world number one Saina Nehwal on Friday thrashed United States' Iris Wang in the quarter-final to reach the semi-finals of the ongoing Orleans Masters.
The ace Indian shuttler was made to fought hard to register a 21-19, 17-21, 21-19 win over Wang in a one-hour long encounter.
After losing the first set 21-19, Wang put up a great fight and made a comeback in the second set as she took it 17-21. However, the American was not able to continue her momentum as Nehwal took the third set 21-17 and won the game.
In another women's singles quarter-final, Indian shuttler Ira Sharma faced a humiliating defeat against Denmark's Line Christophersen. Danish shuttler defeated Ira in straight games 21-11, 21-8 in just 23 minutes.
