India's national badminton coach, Gopichand, said it was a moment of pride for him to be at the courtside when Sindhu became the world champion.
Chanmudeswaranath, vice-president of Telangana Badminton Association, is known for presenting young sportspersons cars by collecting funds from like-minded friends and corporate bosses and thanks to the efforts of cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar. This is the 22nd car he has presented.
India's national badminton coach, Gopichand, said it was a moment of pride for him to be at the courtside when Sindhu became the world champion.
“That is the defining moment for Indian sport itself and it makes me feel even more proud that a badminton player has become one,” Gopichand said.
“I think this is just one more step before realising Sindhu’s ultimate dream of winning the Olympic gold next year," he said.
Chamundi said it was only a token gesture to a truly remarkable achievement and no amount of money or gifts can match Sindhu’s achievements. “It is a priceless feat to be a world champion and sincerely wish she would come back to this venue again winning gold and again felicitated by Nagarjuna,” he said.
