Hyderabad: Refuting media reports that PV Sindhu left for London because of tension in family, her father PV Ramana said that the Olympic silver medallist left the country to work with Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) to focus on her health and training.

Earlier, a leading media outlet stated that Sindhu left the national camp midway due to family tension.

However, in an exclusive conversation with ETV Bharat, Ramana, a former member of the India national volleyball team said, "It's all rubbish. She has gone for Gatorade Sports Science Institute in London for her health, body and NRS test in London. How can someone come up with such a statement? Who is the reliable source? How can you quote somebody like that? For example if I just quote some random source, would anyone agree with whatever I quote?"

Further clarifying on the issue, Sindhu who is in London for the past few days took to social media and tweeted: "I came to London a few days back to work on my nutrtion and recovery needs with GSSI. In fact, I have come here with the consent of my parents and absolutely they were no family rifts in this regard."

On reports of Sindhu not getting adequate facilities at the national camp, the 25-year-old said, "I do not have any issues with my coach Mr Gopichand or the training facilities at the academy."

The world champion recently pulled out of Denmark Open which marked the beginning of the BWF World Tour season following a seven-month halt due to the COVID-19 induced lockdown.

She is expected to make a comeback in the Asia Open I (Jan. 12-17) and Asia Open II (Jan. 19-24).
