Exclusive: I will aim for the gold medal in Tokyo Olympics, says PV Sindhu

Talking about Summer Games, Sindhu said the qualifications for Tokyo Olympics are going on and that's why every tournament is important to her.

Hyderabad: Reigning world champion PV Sindhu on Monday in an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat opened-up about her preparations for the Tokyo Olympics. Sindhu visited ETV Bharat's Hyderabad office and she was accompanied by her Premier Badminton League team --Hyderabad Hunters -- owner Dr V. K. Rao.

Talking about adding Sindhu in Hyderabad Hunters' squad, Rao accepted that it was difficult to get the Hyderabadi shuttler in his squad as almost every team was bidding for her.

Sindhu played for Awadh Warriors in her first season of PBL before moving to Chennai Superstarz in the second edition of the league. The world number six is associated with Hyderabad Hunters from last two years.

Sindhu also said that she is happy that she is playing for HH in PBL as it is her home team.

She also said that the qualifications for Tokyo Olympics are going on and that's why every tournament is important to her. The Olympic silver medallist said that she would aim for the gold medal in the upcoming Summer Games.

When asked if she feels pressurised as 1.2 billion people believe in her.

The 24-year-old said, "I feel proud that the people of my country is cheering for me. I am honoured that so many people pray for me and believe in me."
