Basel: B Sai Praneeth and PV Sindhu created a buzz in the world of badminton as the Indian shuttlers reached men's and women's singles semifinals of BWF World Championships on Friday.
They will play their respective semifinal here on Saturday.
Earlier, Sindhu assured herself a fifth World Championships medal while Praneeth became the first Indian male shuttler in 36 years to ensure a podium finish in the prestigious event.
Sindhu pulled off a thrilling win against Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu Ying before Praneeth notched a straight-game win over Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie.
On August 24, Sindhu will take on Chen Yufei of China and Praneeth will confront world No. 1 Kento Momota of Japan.

Sindhu's opponent in the semifinal is world No. 3 Yu Fei. The Chinese youngster is the currently reigning All England Champion and has managed to taste success in four major tournaments this year. Sindhu overshadows Yufei with a 5-3 record and the 2016 Olympic silver medallist also won the last encounter against the Chinese in the Indonesia Open semifinals last month. Sindhu has a very good opportunity of reaching her third straight final at the worlds.
