Tamil television actor Chithra Kamaraj has died by apparent suicide. The actor, who was best known for series Pandiyan Stores, was found dead in a luxury hotel in Chennai.

Mumbai: Popular Tamil television actor Chithra Kamaraj has reportedly committed suicide. The Pandiyan Stores actor was found dead on Wednesday in a hotel room in Chennai's Nazrathpet. She was 29.

According to reports, Nazrathpet police have registered a case and are inquiring into the matter after around they received a call from hotel management informing about the incident.

"Based on that information, we immediately reached the hotel. The body was recovered and sent to Kilpauk government hospital for post-mortem. We are ascertaining the cause of death," the police told a leading webloid.

Chithra, who has over 1 million followers on Instagram, rose to fame with a small role in popular Tamil series Saravanan Meenakshi’s second part. Her demise has sent a shock wave across the Tamil entertainment industry. As the news of her death spread on social media, colleagues and friends posted tributes and extended heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones.

The actor got engaged to a Chennai based businessman in August and while her fans were awaiting the wedding news her tragic demise has left them grief-stricken.
