NCW asks Tik Tok to remove disturbing video posted by user Faizal Siddiqui

The chairperson of National Commission for Women (NCW) has penned a letter to grievance officer of Tik-Tok India Anuj Bhatia, said that they came across a video in which the user Faizal Siddiqui promotes violence against women.

Mumbai: Tik Tok user Faizal Siddiqui's recent video has landed him in the legal soup. In the video, he is seen allegedly promoting an acid attack on women by recreating a disturbing scene. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has asked Tik Tok India to immediately remove the video and directed the Maharashtra police to take action against the person responsible for making the clip.

NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma wrote in a letter to Tik Tok India, "The commission is seriously concerned about the increase in crimes against women and the video not only seems to promote violence against women but also shows the patriarchal mindset, which would send a very wrong message to the society through this video made by Faizal Siddiqui on Tik Tok."

In a letter to Maharashtra Director General of Police (DGP) Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, Sharma wrote, "The commission is concerned about the safety and security of women and disturbed by the use of cyberspace to instigate crime against women."

Faizal has more than 13 million followers on his TikTok page and one of the Twitter users had filed a police complaint against him. "I have filed complaint, Faizal Siddiqui, for the TikTok video promoting acid attack towards our women. This type of action shouldn't be promoted and strict action should be taken @Rajput_Ramesh @MODIfiedVikas @indiantweeter @TajinderBagga," a user wrote.

Faizal Siddiqui is the brother of another controversial TikTok influencer Amir Siddiqui.
