Spider-Man re-enters Marvel Cinematic Universe

Following an impasse over a financial deal, Marvel's parent company Disney and Sony have finally agreed to sign a new deal. As a part of the new arrangement, Spider-Man will appear in one of the future Marvel Studios films.

Spider-Man re-enters Marvel Cinematic Universe

Los Angeles: Putting all speculations to rest, the makers of Spider-Man starring Tom Holland's has recently declared that the film will not be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

After parting ways publicly, Sony Pictures and Marvel on Friday have announced to ink a deal for one more movie.

The third instalment in the Spider-Man: Homecoming series to be produced by Marvel Studios will feature Holland as the web-slinging hero.

Marvel Studio president Kevin Feige said: "I am thrilled that Spidey's journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it."

He further added: "Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold."

Expressing excitement on working on the project, Amy Pascal of Pascal Pictures said: "This is terrific. Peter Parker's story took a dramatic turn in ‘Far From Home' and I could not be happier we will all be working together as we see where his journey goes."

For nearly two decades Marvel has licensed the rights to Spider-Man to Sony. By bringing Marvel and Feige back into the fold with 2017 release Spider-Man: Homecoming, the studio was able to revive the franchise.

Pleased to sign the deal, the chief communications officer of Sony Pictures Entertainment Robert Lawson said: "We are delighted to be moving forward together."
