Smokey Robinson, Gloria Gaynor, Ballerina Misty react to Kobe Bryant death at Grammys

Smokey Robinson, Gloria Gaynor and Ballerina Misty Copeland mourned the death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna.

Los Angeles: Smokey Robinson got emotional speaking about the death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna on Sunday's (26 JAN. 2020) Grammy Awards red carpet.

"Kobe was my friend and my wife woke me up this morning and told me, I could not believe it first of all. And to find out that it was really true and then as a dad myself, to find out that his daughter was there with him and there was nothing that he could do for her, my God. It's horrible."

Gloria Gaynor's voice broke as she commented on his passing.

"I was in tears this morning because I mean when I heard about it I was so shocked. I can't _ I just want to send out condolences and prayers to his family and his friends and his fans because this was a wonderful, wonderful life that snuffed out way too fast."

Ballerina Misty Copeland said she's a friend of the Bryant family and she said everyone at the Grammys would be thinking of the Bryant family.

Authorities say nine people died in the helicopter crash that killed the former NBA star and his 13-year-old daughter.
