California: Jennifer Aniston, Mariah Carey and Brie Larson were among the women being honoured by Variety here on October 11 in Beverly Hills.

Natalie Portman, Chaka Khan and Awkwafina were also honoured by the entertainment trade publication.

Jennifer had said it's important for women to support each other and to not root against each other and to understand the power of friendships. The Friends actor emphasised on cultivating powerful friendships and bonds, a practice which has helped her in her personal and professional life.

"It means a lot. I'm in such amazing company. It's, it's an honour," said Awkwafina, who shot to fame last year in Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. She's next working with Meryl Streep, Kerry Washington and Nicole Kidman on Ryan Murphy's The Prom.

"Yeah, I'm really excited about that," the 30-year-old actor said. "It's a stacked cast. I can't wait. We are going into that soon."

Each of the honorees delivered a speech at the Power of Women luncheon. Awkwafina says she knows a woman is powerful when she sees confidence.

"Confidence sometimes is very subjective. Sometimes people act confident and not feel it but I think it's a way of looking at herself and being sure of that, sure of what that is. I think that's very powerful to me," said Awkwafina at Power of Women event.

Others present at the event were actors Joey King, designer Rachel Zoe and Ali Wong.
